EB1 TD room(1005) | 10:00 AM – 11:15 AM | February 29 (Monday)

Gerda Gemser, Ph.D.
Professor of Business and Design
Faculty of Economics, Finance and Marketing
Design Research Institute
RMIT University

This presentation will give insight into the various ways in which design can create value,
both at a broader industry level, and a more specific organisational level. It will examine
how design contributes to the economic performance of companies, explicitly taking
environmental and organisational characteristics into account. At the organisational firm
level, it will also examine different strategies for design management, and how companies
can optimise the value of design by employing it as a driving force in innovation efforts and
by protecting this value from imitators.
